This blog is by Lisa Smiley and Aaron Wong, siblings, writing about current affairs and issues affecting our nation. We seek to open the minds of Americans to the ideas of political Conservatism. We write to help our readers become versed in political matters so that we will all take part intelligently in our nation’s political conversation.

We live in Southern California, where we are also attending college. All photographs in this blog are original, taken or composed by Lisa Smiley, featuring the authors of this blog and our friends. Write to us at keentoconvene @ gmail.com. God bless!

Lisa & Aaron – Not sure how I got here to your new site but I’m glad that I did. I am very impressed with your efforts here. Regardless of the 11/4 outcome, now, more than ever, Christians need to step up and be accountable. Consider yourselves bookmarked at my blog! Bill O’

hi, i came across your blog, and i just want to say how much i admire you guys for writing out your opinions. this election that is going to take place in just a matter of days is going to affect all of our lives, and what you have written about obama and your views of politics really brings out the truth that everybody needs to hear. unfortunately, i am not old enough to vote yet (just six more months to 18! so close! ) but people like who who are taking a stand and voicing your thoughts will open up the minds of others to vote wisely and choose what is right. thanks for writing this blog. i will be praying for this election.

You know what guys? You should add a page or guide promoting patriotism on this site, because you know there’s not an election everyday. I have an idea of a page kindda like consumer guides, but in a more pro-American sense. You can review tech stuff, cars, movies and stuff, you know. As far as I’m concerned, reviewing books is just not enough, i.e. I don’t read… You can promote some good Christian rock though. You know, good conservertism should be reflected in every aspect of life, well, at least ideally.

Thanks Jason,

Great comment. Yes, that is very true! I totally agree that conservatism should be related to all aspects of life. Once we get the writing down, we are making plans to branch out and post other things that appeal to a different audience to introduce everyone possible to these ideas. Not just through books and writing, but using multimedia and non-intellectual materials to get people interested.

By the way, not that this site is all about elections or anything, but 2010 is another very significant election year. At least 36 seats in the Senate are up for grabs and 36 states and 2 territories are holding their gubernatorial elections. Considering senators serve lengthy six year terms, and governors four, this election will have a considerable impact on America’s future and which policies will shape it. And that’s only next year. So hopefully we can help people become aware of these issues before these elections come around. I was always too late in the game the last few times to figure out which candidates stood for what exactly. I would have liked to have been more prepared and I think maybe others would like that too.
